So yeah, I finally ventured into the world of romance, hoping that I could have some of its riches as well. But my first romance novel was a failure, and here I am thinking that maybe I should not have even tried making it.
I spent so much time making the cover and checking to make sure that everything about it looked good. And it did look good, but just the cover and the blurb were not enough to make people want to read my book.
For romance, it's imperative that you have two things: previous reviews (called ARCs) and ads. If you don't do any of both, as it was the case with my book, nobody will even give a chance to your book. It's very ridiculous, but it is what it is.
I decided to try and test if the claim that romance is pay to win is true, and I ended up finding out that it is so.
I am not going to write another romance novel without money for ads, which I don't have.
But yeah, the competition is so high for romance you can't even make people read your stories without spending money and sending out free copies for reviews. I didn't want to do any of those because, for erotica, it always worked not worry about such thing.s.
But for romance, you won't even have a chance without doing pay to win and giving free copies for reviews. I always thought that doing the right thing was good enough, but it seems that for romance I will have to start playing by their filthy rules.
That is all.
